The PACE Advising Planning and Development Team meets weekly to discuss direction of the center and staff development needs. In these meetings the following process topics have been formalized:
GOJAS: Redesigned the Guidelines Oriented Job Analysis (GOJA) booklets for Academic Advisor I, Academic Advisor II, and Student Development Specialist positions to better assist improvement and development of our professional staff.
Interviewing and Hiring Practices: Created professional-quality guides to enhance the hiring and evaluation process for advising staff.
Sutdent Learning Outcomes: Developed and implemented student learning outcomes to solidify advising as teaching to promote lifelong learning among our students.
Advisor I Training: Formalized the training process for our professional advising staff, including a 7-8 week standardized training for new hires.
Staff Recognition and Appreciation: Nominated advisors for recognition at the local, state, regional, and national levels.
Annual Planning Cycle: Created yearly calendar of events within PACE Advising, including:
- Two yearly professional development retreats
- Advising appointment availability and scheduling
- Advisor training (student learning outcomes, New Student Orientation, etc.)
- Team building
- Internal team assignments
- Article reviews
- Cross campus educational meetings
