How to register for courses with a LINKED LECTURE AND LAB.

This will help you find out if your lecture course has an attached lab that you must also register for.

  1. Enter the subject of the class you want to add to your schedule, then enter the course number attached.

    • Example: Subject – MATH; Course number - 2417

  5. When both classes have appeared on the bottom righthand side of the screen, they will have a “PENDING” status.

    • Do not be alarmed if your lab is registered for 0 credit hours. The lab is technically attached to your lecture (3-hour lecture and 1-hour lab).

  6. Hit the “SUBMIT” button on the bottom righthand side of the screen. The status of your classes should become green and say “REGISTERED”.

This will show you how to determine if you eligible to take a course based on its required prerequisites OR if you must register for a prerequisite course before you can advance.

  1. Once you are in the registration system, navigate to the “SEARCH CRITERIA” page.

  2. Enter the subject of the class you want to add to your schedule, then enter the course number attached.

    • Example: Subject – MATH; Course number – 2471 (Calculus)

    • Example: Subject – MATH; Course number – 2321 (Life Sciences Calculus)

  3. When the list of available course options appears, click on the underlined course title and a chart will appear. Click “PREREQUISITES”.

  4. This will show you what the required courses are that must be completed prior to enrolling in a course. This will also show you what SAT/ACT/Accuplacer test scores can grant access to the course.

    • Note: Not all courses will require the same prerequisites. EXAMPLE: MATH 2321 (Calculus for Life Sciences) requires MATH 1315 or MATH 1319 as a course prerequisite; MATH 2471 (Calculus) requires MATH 2417 (Pre-Calculus) as a course prerequisite.

Checking Section Restrictions on a Course

How to check and see if a course section has restrictions.

This will show you how to determine if you are restricted from certain courses meant for a specific group of students.

Restrictions may be section specific and will NOT allow a student to register for that section if the student does not meet the restriction. Some common restrictions include:

  • living-learning communities
  • specific majors or major concentrations
  • classification status (eg. non-freshman students)
  1. When you are on the main registration page, begin to add your courses by searching for the course “SUBJECT” and “COURSE NUMBER”.

  2. When you see a list of available course options, click on the underlined course title and a chart will appear. Click “RESTRICTIONS” on the left side of the chart.

    • Example: Subject – ID; Course Number -1310 (Intro to Interior Design)

    • When you click restrictions, you may see a list of requirements that must be met in order for you to take a course.

    • If you meet the requirements of that course, you may add the course to your schedule and register for the class.

  3. If you do not meet the requirements for the course, you should either pick a different section of the class (a different time/date that is not restricted to you) or pick another entirely class to register for.
